Gilpin Hotel Casino

The new addition is a three story, 12,000 square foot extension of the original building with brick, stone, and steel to match the surrounding buildings.  The new building now houses a large, open gaming area and the upper floors are used as office spaces.  The renovation to the existing building was one of the more challenging portions of the work.  Not only were all operations to continue normally, but it was also absolutely necessary to maintain a safe separation between the casino’s patrons and all construction activities.  Much of the work was completed between the hours of 12 am to 8 am, and constant monitoring of safety systems and egresses was crucial.  Demolition and infill of existing interior stairwells and elevators made way for more floor space in the gaming area at the front of the casino.  The existing restrooms in the second floor restaurant were replaced with higher capacity restrooms down the hall from the restaurant, allowing the kitchen to expand and seating capacity to increase.  All finishes in the renovated portions of the building were matched to the existing finishes and were tied into the look of the new addition for an overall continuation of the original Gilpin Hotel.  As a result of our success on this project, the Owner also awarded us the contract to complete the remodel of the Lodge Casino’s kitchen and the tenant finish of the third floor office space within the Gilpin.
