Phoenix Fire Station #50
Phoenix, AZ
This nationally award-winning Fire Station is the second of the four fire stations currently LEED Certified in the nation. The building accomodates 13 firefighters and four trucks during full operation. Some of the LEED elements incorporated into the building include rapidly renewable and recycled content material, daylighting, high-efficiency glazing and insulation systems, brownfield redevelopment and indoor air quality monitoring. The landscaping was designed to use 50% less water than the typical fire station in the same climate, and the HVAC and electrical systems’ efficiency has allowed the City to realize a thirty percent decrease in energy costs. As a result of the success of this project, each subsequent fire station designed and built for the City of Phoenix shall be held to the same high standards.
