Mesa County Justice Center
Grand Junction, CO

The MCJC included a courthouse building, courtroom facilities, administration, holding cells and an underground tunnel connected to the existing MC Jail.  The building is four-story above grade with one partial basement, along with the tunnel to connect the Jail facility.  The foundation component was driven steel piles filled with concrete, cast in place concrete foundation and basement structures, structural steel superstructure with composite steel concrete decks between.  Exterior skin was structural steel studs with brick veneer and precast accents.   The building included office areas for the judges and their clerical assistants, as well as the County Clerk's Office and recordkeeping The project included secure parking for the judges and the automatic gates required to achieve the security.   There was also kevlar security screening installed inside the millwork in the judges' areas and in the screenwalls surrounding the jury.
