Biology and Biochemistry Facility at Northern Arizona University
Flagstaff, AZ

FCI constructed this $11.6 million project, which consisted of a 65,000 sf science facility and an 8,000 sf administrative office.  Both were completed in January 2000. The structure consists of pre-cast twin tees, steel beam and joists on a caisson foundation.   The skin is a mix of antique brick and sandstone, utilized to give the building an “1800’s feel”. The functional use of this two-story building required fume hoods, 100% exhaust air, lab millwork with solid polymer countertops, and an A/V-equipped lecture hall.  Construction was completed while school was in session.
