This learning facility contains some of the most state-of-the-art technology on the Colorado School of Mines Campus, as well as being constructed for optimal energy-efficiency. The building includes a 150-seat tiered lecture hall, small group physics labs, classrooms, a technology authoring center, conference rooms, workshops, and offices. This project was presented with the “Excellence in Use of Renewable Energy in Building” award from the Colorado Renewable Energy Society in 2002. The structure is steel studs with brick and stone veneer with patinated copper skin at the auditorium and roof accents. This project has won awards from the Society of College and University Planners, Architectural Record and the Colorado Renewable Energy Society.
